Hey lovely ambitious reader,
I know the world glorifies the grind, but you don’t have to fall into the trap of believing your worth is tied to how productive you are. Constantly measuring your worth based on how many to-do list items you checked off, how quickly you finished the laundry and dishes, how many late hours you worked, or how you skipped lunch to keep working, is not going to serve you in the long run.
Somehow, somewhere along the way, rest became the last thing on your mind. It mirrors that of a chore; something you have no interest in as you search for the next thing to occupy your time instead.
But here’s the truth: You gotta sit down! You have to fill up your cup in order to pour into others. You deserve rest. Hell, you need rest. Rest is not something you have to earn, you deserve it simply because you exist and not because you’ve been productive.
The Power of Rest
Now, I’m not saying all this just because. I’m saying this based on experience. I’m reminding you of this because I’ve had to recover from burnout before and it wasn’t pretty. Both my body AND my mind were due for a break but I didn’t listen until they ganged up on me and pummeled me into forcing myself to have several seats.
You can tell your body to rest or your body will make you rest.
So don’t wait for this to be you. Indulge in the beauty that is rest. Give your mind and body the space to breathe, to recharge, to simply be. Allow yourself time to pause and take the intentional breaths that remind you, you are worth more than the progress reports of life that school once encouraged us to place our value in.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Give yourself permission to REST.
Say this to yourself, out loud or in your mind, 3 times
Say it as though you mean it + feel it in your body.
“I value rest and I am not ashamed to partake in it”
Activity: Take a picture or make a video of you doing something restful and add the mantra above to the text. Be sure to Tag me so I can see and share it too!
With love and positivity,
XO,
Kelley Green Johnson

I’ve been looking at my September Calendar and wondering how did it get full within the first week of the month. I made a pact with myself to do less this month so this was a timely letter.
I value rest and I am not ashamed to partake in it!
Love it
We all as woman believe we can do it all but sometime a you have to sit down somewhere and breathe!!!
